Hemel Meghani Cosme (Owner/Director of Tennis) is a certified USPTA & PTR Certified Teaching Professional. Hemel grew up in New York playing at the public parks in Queens. She is a former professional world ranked singles and doubles player. She graduated from University of California-Santa Barbara with a double degree in Law & Sociology. Prior to owning APTC Hemel ran Central Park Tennis Center the largest municipal tennis facility in the United States.
Carol Watson, The Director of Programs is a former professional player and is one of the top coaches in the country. Carol is a former USTA National Coach, a USTA High Performance Coach, a certified USPTA & PTR Teaching Professional and a USTA Net Generation Coach . In her 18 year tenure with the USTA she’s coached, trained and traveled with many talented and former USTA Jr. National Team Members like: Lindsay Davenport, Chanda Rubin, Mashona Washington, Lilia Osterloh, Tara Synder and a host of other talented players. Carol, was named the 2004 Tennis Women of the Year, awarded by the USTA/Eastern section. Along with her love of tennis Carol’s other passion is her love of golf, anytime she is not on the tennis courts you will find her on the golf course.
Jason Vinoles, (Teaching Pro Staff) joined our staff in 2016. Jason graduated from Boston University Class of 2003. He is a certified PTR Teaching Professional and speaks English & Fluent Spanish. Jason brings high energy, fun and a positive attitude to all of his lessons. When he is not on the tennis court his 2nd passion is acting and writing screen plays.
Jason Chin, (Teaching Pro Staff) resides in Bayside, Queens with his wife Jenny and his 3 kids who all play and love the game of tennis. Jason has been teaching tennis for over 20 years. He brings a wealth of experience & fun to all of his lessons. Jason is a certified USPTA Teaching Professional.
Richard Bowie, (Director of Performance Development) Richard is a new addition to our APTC Staff in 2018. He will help develop & promote the competitive pathway of Youth Tennis Progressions. Concentrating on ages 7 years old to High School Tournament Training and College age. Richard is a USTA High Performance Coach certified Net Generation Ambassador & Coach. He is a USPTA Certified Professional, UPTR Certified and a Eastern National Coach.
Ricardo Alexander, (Teaching Professional) was born and raised in Jamaica West Indies. He came to the U.S.A and has been a teaching professionally for 14 years. He has taught all levels of players from nationally ranked juniors, Adults and beginners. He has a great personality and loves seeing his students enjoy the game of tennis. You will always have a great workout and informative lesson with Coach Ricardo. Ricardo is a certified PTR Teaching Professional.
Bill Lukowski, (Teaching Professional) is a certified PTR Teaching Professional. Bill just recently joined our staff at APTC in September 2005. Bill has competed on a national and international level (ATP & USTA Tour). Bill is dedicated to improving his students in the growth of there tennis development. Lessons with Bill are informative and fun!
Osas Akinniranye (Akins) (Teaching Professional) is a certified USPTA Teaching Professional. Akins graduated from Texas Southern University where he played #3 Singles on the Men’s tennis team and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Technology. Akins has been teaching for 10 years. He is competitive on and off the court and employs a very fundamental and technical approach to teaching the game of tennis. He has a great smile and loves to work with children of all ages as well as adults.
Spencer Belcher, (Teaching Professional) is a graduate of Norfolk State University in Norfolk, Virginia with a degree in English Literature. Although Spencer is a full time state certified teacher working towards becoming an Elementary School Principal, he finds great satisfaction in teaching tennis and playing. As a participating member of this year’s 2005 Eastern 5.0 team that successfully made it to Nationals in Palm Springs, California, Spencer feels that tennis is truly a sport for a lifetime. Ask any of the “old” guys who played with him (smile).
Flore Cadet, (Desk Manager) has been with APTC for a few years. She currently attends New York City College of Technology and majoring in architecture and interior design. We are lucky to have Flore, she always greets you with a smile and happy to assist you!
Ann Karpova, ( Front Desk Staff) is a Native of Moscow Russia, prior to joining APTC family she was the Pro Shop Manager and Junior Programs Administrator at The West Side Tennis Club in Forest Hills, NY for the past 13 years. Ann has a wealth and knowledge of tennis and joined APTC Staff in September 2018.
